Like most social media sites, Pinterest can be quite addictive! If your world revolves around aesthetics and graphic images, then you are more likely to get hooked. If you also have a passion for collecting things then you better watch out!
Everyday I look at the images on the "feed" and repin the ones that interest me. I am linked to other artists and designers and we supply each other with inspiration on a daily basis. At some point in the future these images could be helpful and inspirational to my design/artwork and I know exactly where they are all stored.
For me, this is the attraction of Pinterest. There is also an element of promotion, self or otherwise, involved and once a band of followers has been built up, there are obviously huge viral opportunities should an image be repinned many times. A new element has recently been introduced allowing "secret boards" which keeps your images exclusive. Below is a snapshot of my boards: lets get inspired together!
Shop Scotland have redesigned their website and made it much easier to navigate all the lovely Scottish goodies inside!
This is such a helpful site for Scottish artisans because the people who manage it are friendly, helpful and actively promote on facebook and twitter all the businesses listed on the site. Also website traffic increases significantly because of link to each website.
Shop Scotland began as a way for Scottish based makers, designers and small businesses to showcase their work. It is platform bringing together and exhibiting a mix of amazing Scottish artists, giving a real representation of the talent Scotland has. Shop Scotland does not sell directly. They bring together, in an easy to navigate, and in category specific sections, a selection of amazing creatives. I'm loving the new Scotty dog logo too!
