Opening a new shop on Saatchi online! Here is an example of a digital painting inspired by the cityscape of San Francisco. The print was designed entirely on the computer using digital brushes.
Despite the wintery weather in Scotland last week, we had a very successful open studios in the upstairs gallery room at the Westerton Hotel! Lots of interesting visitors and feedback. My blank greetings cards sold so well that I am now going to concentrate on marketing them further afield and also in the process of setting up a new online shop. The good thing about Open Studios events is the feedback and making contacts. Another positive is meeting other artists at their open studios. Every year I am astonished at the quality and the low prices that people charge. Its a big opportunity to sell work with out the usual 100% commission added by shops and galleries.
Also, I have three new commissions this week as a direct result. There's a little part of me wishes it could be open studios everyday! By the way, I have a page on this website where you can buy my cards - you don't need a paypal account - any queries please fill in the contact form. Cards online: /cards.html
Well there are not many names left to choose from on one of the biggest online shopping sites in the world, Etsy, so I decided to adopt an american style name for my newly re-opened shop. I have listed a variety of prints and cards on Etsy and if you want to buy you just have to register as a member and pay using Paypal. It is very similar to Ebay. Watch out - its also compulsive if you like handcrafted, vintage or quirky items. As a seller, it is such a huge site if you want to be noticed, you have to spend time networking it, much like twitter and facebook. With all this networking stuff its hard to fit in the time to do the business!
