Korie is a jewellery designer from San Francisco. Her jewellery is made from sea glass, sterling silver and antique brass. Thelma, Korie's dog accompanies her on all her sea glass finding adventures and helps her find the best pieces!
About the jewellery: Each piece is individually crafted to fit the shape of the sea glass. She starts with a straight piece of sterling silver wire and twist and shapes it into a unique design. Then she hammers (forges) the silver flat. Lastly, the silver piece runs through a jewelry tumbler to polish and harden it. Currently, Korie is learning new silversmithing techniques to fuse sterling silver with a torch, so she can create new unique and seamless pieces.
Sea glass originates from discarded broken glass that has been tumbled smooth through the ocean for decades to hundreds of years. The corrosive salt water environment, combined with the erosion from surf, sand, and rocks, smooth and round the sea glass, creating an esthetic, delicate treasure.
As well as an interest in other crafts such as needle-felting, painting, sewing and beading, Korie works in research to develop assistive technology for the blind. A very busy and creative lady!
