Recently, instead of networking on facebook, I have found myself spending spare moments on Pinterest. It does take just a few minutes to check out the latest pics! The attraction for me is that you collect beautiful images in a logical manner and they are shared virally by those who have a similar interest. It is such a powerful tool in organising your influences and inspirations.
I have only recently joined up with Pinterest and have a few boards. If you would like to see them here is the link:Follow me at http://pinterest.com/mitchelldesigns/ Perhaps you too will be smitten!

What is sea glass? Sea glass originates from discarded broken glass that has been tumbled smooth through the ocean for decades to hundreds of years. The corrosive salt water environment, combined with the erosion from surf, sand, and rocks, smooth and round the sea glass, creating an esthetic, delicate treasure. As well as an interest in other crafts such as needle-felting, painting, sewing and beading, Korie works in research to develop assistive technology for the blind. A very busy and creative lady! As a small token of appreciation, liker no.500 will receive a free Aquilegia print with matching card!

Mairi and I studied jewellery and silvermithing together at Edinburgh College of Art in the early 80's and have remained friends ever since! Recently Mairi has developed a passion for feltmaking which she combines with her love of lustre glass beads. She has recently opened a new etsy shop where you can buy her work at very reasonable prices. This is a great opportunity to showcase the participating artists to a wider audience as Stirling always attracts a lot of visitors in the summer months.
Just back from a wonderfully warm, inspirational holiday in Sorrento. It was my first trip to the Neapolitan Riviera and I can thoroughly recommend a trip there, as long as you don't mind the lack of beaches, as the town is built on a cliff.
Sorrento thrives on tourism and as a result there are a huge number of 4*/5* hotels offering luxury at an affordable price. The people are very friendly and the service in restaurants amazing. The orange and lemon groves are everywhere and you can walk through them and sample the Limoncello they produce. A trip to Capri is a must - if only to browse through the busy designer shops. It is a beautiful island, summer home to the rich and famous but don't expect to enjoy tpeace and tranquillity there during the day, as there are regular hordes of visitors milling around in large groups, even in springtime! The exception to this was the lovely Villa San Michele in Anacapri, former home of the Swedish physician and author and now a museum. The gardens and views here are truly breathtaking and for me a highlight of the trip. |
